A great PA system can make or break a live performance. Whether you're setting up for a coffee shop acoustic set or a full band in a 500-capacity venue, choosing the right PA gear ensures your audience hears your best sound.
Powered vs passive: Powered speakers have built-in amplifiers — easier to set up, lighter to carry, and perfectly matched. Passive speakers need an external amplifier but give you more flexibility. For most bands, powered speakers are the practical choice.
Coverage pattern determines who hears what. Wide coverage (100°+) fills a room evenly but can cause reflections. Narrow coverage (60-75°) projects further with more focused dispersion.
SPL ratings tell you how loud you can go. A speaker rated at 125dB peak SPL fills a medium club. For outdoor events, look for 130dB+ peak SPL.
