I've spent a lot of money on plugins over 20+ years. Some earned their price. Others were impulse buys I've used once.

Touring and session musician with 20+ years on stages around the world. A great deal of the gear I recommend here I have used myself, on tours, in professional studios, or in my own studio.

How I test gear: to be honest, I have not tested every product on this site. Much of it I have used myself in live shows and recording sessions; others I have seen tested by musicians and sound techs I trust; and the rest I have researched in depth before recommending.
Verdict
If you can only buy one bundle, make it FabFilter Total Bundle — it covers EQ, dynamics and mixing better than anything else. Komplete 26 is the production workhorse when you want sounds and synths, and Melodyne 5 is the one to add once pitch correction becomes a daily need.

How to Build a Plugin Toolkit That Covers Every Job

A plugin collection is not about quantity — it is about coverage. You need the right tool for each stage of a mix: tone shaping, dynamics, effects, and finishing. Start with one strong option per category and grow from there.
